How to build a gaming machine for $650!
Welcome to my first tutorial! This tutorial will show you how to build a gaming machine for about $650 that will kick the pants off those stupid Alienware Machines! Then you can laugh in the face of those idiots who just spent $3000 on some slow outdated computer!
Step #1: Get a cool looking case! for about $110 you can get a case that looks exactly like an Alienware case! You can either shop online or I suggest you go to FunKey computers. They are located right across the street from Circuit City. Here's a pic of a case that costs about $100.
You can get that case in just about any color you want. Just stick an Alienware Sticker on it. Even has a window on the side to look at your components.
Step #2: Get a motherboard and CPU! Here's one bit of advice DO NOT GET A PENTIUM 4!! They are expensive and perform worse than an Athlon XP that costs about a third as much. You can get for about $160 an AMD Athlon XP with a motherboard! That's only $270 total!
Step #3: Get 256MB of DDR Ram for about $60! That's only $330 total! Well there is still $320 left so continue on to step #4.
Step #4: Well this is in many people's opinions the most important! Now is the time for the hard drive! It costs about $80 for a 60GB hard drive! That is more than enough to store all your files that you need. All this and still $240 left!
Step #5: Here is the third to the last step! Almost done! Now for a CD-Burner. You can purchase a 40X CD burner for about $50! All that and still $190 left!
Step #6: Here is another important step. You need to get a video card and monitor. You can get a Radeon 9000 for about $100. On the monitor end of it you can either use a 17" monitor for about $90.
Step #6: Now for the OS. This is the part that is up to you. If you have a version of Windows on hand then install that. Or if you want a free OS you should highly consider Linux. Mandrake Linux is by far the easiest to use Linux distro. Well that's it! You now have a computer that looks and outperforms an Alienware computer for under 1/4 the price!
